CNESST monitoring in a private clinic: an advantageous choice

CNESST Follow-up

In Quebec, workers who have suffered injuries or illnesses related to their employment can take advantage of the compensation program offered by the Commission des normes, de l'équité, de la santé et de la sécurité au travail (CNESST). To be eligible for the program and receive compensation, an evaluation by a physician is required, a service we offer on a quick turnaround at Humani, your private medical clinic in Rosemère-Laval.

CNESST: for workers' safety

According to the Occupational Health and Safety Act, workers employed in Quebec are entitled to adequate treatment to preserve their health and safety.

Employers must therefore take appropriate action in the event of injury, occupational illness, or pregnancy. They are responsible for reassigning their employees to less strenuous tasks or allowing them time to recover. Workers are entitled to compensation for lost wages incurred as a result of the accident or injury.

Marche à suivre en cas de lésion professionnelle

What to do in the event of a work-related injury

  • Ensure that adequate care is provided at the time of the accident/injury;
  • Notify the employer of the situation as soon as possible;
  • Complete the CNESST Worker's Statement form;
  • Consult a doctor as soon as possible;

The importance of medical follow-up

While such a consultation is important from the outset, the doctor plays a major role throughout the recovery process. Their tasks and responsibilities, both medical and administrative, are many and varied:

  • Conduct an assessment examination: they can then make a clear diagnosis and determine whether the limitations caused are permanent or temporary;
  • Determine a treatment plan: they can prescribe the care and treatment necessary for recovery (medication, orthotics, professional follow-up, etc.) and decide on the time needed for recovery.
    This period may be reviewed, but forms must then be completed;
  • Provide ongoing medical and administrative follow-up: it is the doctor's responsibility to complete the CNESST forms and submit them throughout the medical follow-up;
  • Give their opinion on the reassignment of the employee or preventive withdrawal (in the case of pregnancy): this opinion is based on the person's situation (severity of the physical impairment, abilities, etc.) and the nature of the work offered.

CNESST monitoring in a private clinic: an advantageous choice

At Humani, we offer comprehensive medical care following an accident, illness, or occupational injury. Our general practitioners are able to make diagnoses and recommend appropriate treatments. And we do so quickly, often within timeframes that are impossible for the public sector. We also offer employers the option of referring their employees to us if CNESST follow-up is necessary: we will welcome them with pleasure and professionalism and ensure communication with all parties involved. And we will do so throughout the entire period of withdrawal or reassignment of tasks!
